SAMPLE TRANSLATION
Chapter 26 contains two sections of laws that conclude a long dense unit comprised of many legal sections (some new, and others referring to legal matters already prescribed in previous books of the Torah). These two sections bring this legal unit to a close, and immediately following them are verses that constitute a kind of introduction and declarative background leading up to the covenant on the plains of Moab. The opening words for the entire unit are keywords that reappear in all components of the covenant: the words ‘This day’.
